Watch Viral Video: Sonam Wangchuk Forcefully Taken Into Custody, CJP Claims; Wife Issues Statement

viral video – On the 21st day of his ongoing hunger strike, activist and teacher Sonam Wangchuk was moved to a hospital. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) released a video that quickly gained traction online, sparking widespread attention. The footage, which has amassed nearly 2.5 lakh views in just one hour, captures a tense scene near Jantar Mantar, where Wangchuk is allegedly taken by Delhi Police.

“Delhi Police has picked up Sonam Wangchuk forcefully! WATCH!”

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das shared the video, accusing the police of using force during the arrest. Meanwhile, Abhijeet Dipke, the CJP’s founding president, claimed he was “beaten up” by authorities. “I was subjected to physical harm and detained by Delhi Police,” Dipke posted, adding to the controversy.

Delhi Police’s Justification

The Delhi Police defended their actions, stating the move followed a directive from the Delhi High Court. The court had mandated daily medical checks and essential care after reports of Wangchuk’s worsening health. According to DCP New Delhi, protests created some disruption during the transfer, but police maintained they used minimal force throughout.

“Compliance with the High Court’s orders led to minor disturbances, yet the operation was carried out safely with utmost restraint.”

The exact circumstances of the transfer remain disputed. In the meantime, Wangchuk’s wife released a statement, clarifying her family’s stance on his medical treatment. “I am at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi where Wangchuk has been admitted. No oral or intravenous medication should be given without my consent, along with his doctors,” she wrote, noting that health monitoring has been ongoing for 20 days.

Background of the Hunger Strike

Wangchuk initiated his protest on 28 June, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The strike followed allegations of a leak in the NEET-UG medical entrance exam. He also called for systemic reforms to India’s examination process.

Doctors reported that Wangchuk’s health deteriorated significantly after a few weeks of fasting. He is said to have lost over 9kg, equivalent to nearly 20% of his body weight. Concerns have been raised about potential muscle atrophy and organ damage due to the prolonged protest.
