Shabana Azmi Participates in CJP’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ Protest, Supports Demonstrators

Theindiapostdaily.com – On Monday, renowned actress Shabana Azmi joined the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) ‘Chalo Sansad’ march in Delhi, capturing moments from the protest as thousands of participants gathered at Jantar Mantar. The event coincided with the start of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with Azmi aligning herself with the demonstrators who sought to march toward the legislative body.

Azmi, 75, had expressed solidarity with the protest prior to the march. She described the gathering as an assertion of constitutional rights, emphasizing the right to peaceful assembly. The CJP, meanwhile, focused on demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and pushing for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Protesters’ Efforts and Police Response

Delhi Police had imposed restrictions, prohibiting marches and processions outside the designated protest site. Despite these measures, thousands of students, parents, and supporters persisted in their demonstration, creating a tense atmosphere around Jantar Mantar and Parliament Street.

“Mai yahan pahunch gayi hoon (I have reached here).”

In a video posted on Monday evening, Azmi was seen navigating the crowded protest, receiving assistance from fellow participants as she joined the movement. Her footage highlighted the determination of the crowd, while also showcasing her presence as a symbol of public support.

Public Figures and the Protest’s Significance

Azmi’s participation followed her earlier visit to the Jantar Mantar protest site. Actor-turned-politician Prakash Raj also joined the cause, alongside AAP leaders, Swara Bhasker, and Kunal Kamra, who endorsed the agitation. The CJP’s campaign has drawn attention to broader educational reforms and concerns over examination discrepancies.

“In the truck. The government has finally agreed to have a dialogue. It is a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar for educational reforms (sic).”

The march intensified as protesters pressed forward toward Parliament, prompting heavy police deployment and clashes. Authorities used lathi charges to disperse the crowd, yet the demonstrators continued to gather, amplifying the protest’s visibility amid the Monsoon Session’s opening.
