Origin of the Misinformation

This widespread rumor gained momentum following a video message that PM Modi uploaded to his Instagram account on the evening of July 23. In that particular recording, the Prime Minister spoke directly to young demonstrators gathered at Jantar Mantar, notably using the term “friends” rather than his customary “mitron” when addressing the students.

The accompanying caption for this viral content read: “More strict actions against paper leaks to come in tomorrow’s Cabinet!” This single post achieved remarkable success, accumulating 303 million views within just one day and eclipsing the previous record held by IShowSpeed.

What the Government Clarified

Addressing the confusion, the PIB released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) explaining the situation clearly:

“An Instagram post claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced he will go live on Instagram every Sunday at 8 PM to engage with the youth,” the PIB Fact Check unit said in an X post. “This claim is fake.”

The government information body further emphasized that no such declaration had been made by the Prime Minister, and they encouraged the public to depend exclusively on official government channels for accurate information.

Context: The July 23 Video Message

During his nearly three-minute address on social media platforms, PM Modi highlighted the significant impact that examination paper leaks have had on students and their families. He expressed the administration’s dedication to preventing similar occurrences moving forward.

“Paper leak is not a minor issue. It has caused immense pain to lakhs of students and their parents,” the Prime Minister said.

Speaking specifically about the NEET-UG 2026 situation, the Prime Minister explained that preventing students from losing an entire academic year remained the top priority. He noted that organizing examinations as quickly as possible was absolutely essential.

“Our foremost responsibility was to ensure that students did not lose an academic year. It was essential to conduct the examinations at the earliest,” he said.

The government deployed its complete administrative resources to facilitate testing for approximately 2.2 million candidates within the minimum timeframe. PM Modi mentioned that results were announced on July 19, just five or six days prior to his video message, with celebrations being reported nationwide.

“The government used its full capacity to organise the exams for nearly 2.2 million students in the shortest possible time. Just five or six days ago, on the 19th, the results were declared, and reports of successful candidates celebrating their achievements have been coming in from across the country,” he said.

While acknowledging that multiple individuals suspected of involvement in the paper leak had been detained and imprisoned, the Prime Minister stressed that punishment alone would not resolve the problem.

In a separate recording shared later, PM Modi expressed appreciation for the public’s response to his earlier video:
