CJP Asks for Public Apology to Students; Pradhan Resignation Key

Theindiapostdaily.com – The Cockroach Janta Party has intensified its campaign, with the CJP asks for public apology to protesting students as a central demand. In a formal letter dispatched to the central government on Friday, the organization called upon Delhi Police to issue a sincere public apology to student demonstrators who endured severe physical assault during the Jantar Mantar protests on July 20.

The correspondence, addressed to Union Health Minister J P Nadda, stressed that accountability must extend beyond individual officers. The document specifically identified three key entities required to extend apologies: the Government of India, the head of the Rapid Action Force, and the Delhi Police Commissioner. These officials were asked to acknowledge the brutal treatment meted out to students by their forces during the demonstrations.

This is with respect to the ongoing CJP protest at Jantar Mantar. We acknowledge the Government’s eagerness to find a mutually beneficial solution. Over the last few days, we have held extensive consultations with our supporters and members across the country and with the protestors at Jantar Mantar. We have arrived at a clear consensus that our demands, namely the resignation of Mr Dharmendra Pradhan, ₹1 crore compensation for NEET victims, and no legal action against protestors, are non-negotiable.

Central to the CJP’s position is the insistence that Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation remains non-negotiable. Alongside this political demand, the party has outlined two additional conditions: financial compensation of ₹1 crore for families of students who lost their lives by suicide, and complete immunity from legal proceedings for all demonstrators involved in the protests.

High-Level Government Discussions

CJP representatives Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka engaged in substantive discussions with Union ministers J P Nadda and Jitendra Singh on July 24. This important meeting took place shortly after activist Sonam Wangchuk concluded his 26-day hunger strike late Thursday evening, following the government’s commitments to his primary requirements.

The two-hour session was held at Vithalbhai Patel House, a neutral venue chosen to facilitate open dialogue. The CJP had previously declined invitations to meet at either a minister’s residence or office, maintaining that a neutral location was essential for meaningful discussions between the protesting students and government officials.

We request that all these demands be accepted at the earliest, failing which the movement will only grow bigger and spread across the country. Further, we would appreciate the Government’s response to our five-point demand charter on examination reforms. The charter will prove critical in bringing about the larger structural reforms needed in the education system.

Following the discussions, Minister Nadda informed journalists that the cabinet members had carefully listened to the protesters’ requirements and promised a comprehensive response. He confirmed that another meeting would take place on Saturday to continue the dialogue process.

Das later spoke to media representatives, emphasizing that the party had clearly communicated the non-negotiable nature of Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. This encounter represented the third formal meeting between CJP leadership and government representatives. Notably, Nadda had previously held consecutive sessions with Das and Ranka on July 20 at his residence.

The earlier meeting on July 20 proved particularly significant, as thousands of protesters heeded the “Sansad Chalo” call and marched toward Parliament. They were eventually pushed back using police batons and teargas, with numerous individuals sustaining injuries during the intense confrontation.

The CJP has issued a clear warning that failure to accept their demands promptly would cause the movement to expand significantly and reach every corner of the nation. The party continues to maintain that the CJP asks for public apology remains an essential step toward resolving the crisis and addressing the grievances of protesting students across India.
