CBI Clears Sanjeev Mukhiya in NEET-UG 2024 Examination Paper Theft Investigation

Theindiapostdaily.com – The Central Bureau of Investigation announced on Thursday that its comprehensive inquiry into the suspected NEET-UG 2024 examination paper breach revealed insufficient proof connecting Sanjeev Kumar, also known as Sanjeev Mukhiya, to either the theft or subsequent distribution of the test materials. This conclusion was reported by PTI based on an official agency statement.

According to the investigative body, the matter had previously been addressed and clarified. The CBI emphasized that its probe successfully uncovered the complete network behind the NEET-UG 2024 question paper theft, identifying every participant in the circulation chain as well as all candidates who reportedly gained advantage from the compromised examination documents.

Initial Investigation and Accusations

The case began when Bihar Police discovered the missing NEET-UG question paper in 2024 and subsequently registered a formal complaint. At that initial stage, Mukhiya was listed among the accused due to preliminary concerns stemming from his alleged presence in previous examination paper theft incidents.

Following the transfer of the investigation to the CBI, the agency claimed to have pinpointed every individual connected to both the theft and distribution of the leaked examination papers, alongside all beneficiaries. The investigative agency has now submitted several chargesheets naming forty-five accused persons before a Patna court.

Clearance Based on Lack of Evidence

Despite these developments, the CBI maintained that its thorough examination failed to produce any concrete evidence demonstrating Mukhiya’s participation in the NEET-UG 2024 paper theft or its distribution network.

“In the course of its investigation, the CBI did not come across any evidence to establish the involvement of Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanjeev Mukhiya in the theft or distribution of the stolen NEET-UG question paper in 2024,” the agency stated according to PTI reports.

The probe agency confirmed conducting an extensive and meticulous investigation, expressing confidence that the entire conspiracy had been exposed and all relevant parties properly identified.

Current Custodial Status

The CBI noted that Mukhiya had been evading authorities during the critical period before his arrest by Bihar Police in relation to separate matters. Because his name appeared in the original complaint, investigators brought him into police custody for questioning.

Since the investigation yielded no evidence connecting Mukhiya to the NEET-UG 2024 case, the CBI decided not to file a chargesheet against him in this particular matter. Consequently, he secured bail specifically for the NEET-UG case.

The agency further clarified that Mukhiya continues to remain in judicial custody despite obtaining bail in the CBI case, as he remains an accused in other ongoing investigations conducted by Bihar Police authorities.
