She landed a position with Xanterra Parks & Resorts, the main operator of Yellowstone’s hospitality services. Jeanne Holmes, a 73-year-old educator and fellow seamstress, noted that De La Paz made an immediate impression. The role demands flexibility, as Holmes herself hemmed over 1,000 pairs of pants in her first season alone. The department’s focus on upcycling—turning damaged gear into functional items like converting ruined backpacks into staff fanny packs—adds a layer of innovation to the work.

Financial Reallocation

De La Paz’s new job began in June, offering a weekly schedule of 40 hours from Monday to Friday, roughly 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. She earns $19.25 per hour, equivalent to ₹1,860, which, though lower than her corporate salary, has allowed her to significantly boost savings. With subsidized housing and meals, plus free access to Yellowstone’s natural wonders, her living costs have dropped dramatically.
