Vijeta Dahiya Claims He Was Made a Scapegoat After CJP Removal

Theindiapostdaily.com – Vijeta Dahiya, recently stripped of his position as spokesperson for the Cockroach Janta Party, expressed feeling deeply hurt by the decision. He stated that his fellow party members had turned him into a “scapegoat” for the controversy surrounding the burger incident. Dahiya added that if this action would help their ongoing protest efforts, then he accepted it.

Timeline of Events

The party officially announced Dahiya’s removal on Tuesday, July 21. This decision followed the emergence of a video capturing him consuming a burger while officers were actively cracking down on the group’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ demonstration.

We strongly condemn the deeply insensitive actions of our spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya, whose videos surfaced while peaceful protestors and our team were facing brutal police violence.

The organization further explained that such behavior demonstrated poor judgment and contradicted their core principles. They announced they were relieving him of all official responsibilities.

Dahiya’s Response and New Video

On Wednesday, Dahiya uploaded a video message to Instagram addressing the situation. He revealed that CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke had contacted him on the day of the march, requesting he stay away from the event. According to Dahiya, Dipke wanted him to avoid participation due to the already circulating video.

Dahiya described experiencing two separate incidents while traveling to and from Jantar Mantar. These encounters prompted numerous calls from loved ones urging him to remain cautious.

You were fired from CJP, how did you like it? To tell you the truth, my heart broke. Actually, two such incidents happen to you in a single day. Once, when I was coming home from Jantar Mantar, I was on the metro, and then when I was coming back to Jantar Mantar, the Manuwadis came there and started heckling.

He mentioned that friends reached out to check on him and offered words of solidarity. Initially, Dahiya believed Dipke’s subsequent call was meant to provide comfort.

All of a sudden, I saw that Abhijeet is calling me, and at that time, I was just getting ready to go to the protest site. So I thought that he too has called me assure that I need not worry, and to tell me ‘we are in this together’.

However, the conversation took a different turn. Both Dipke and spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka instructed Dahiya to avoid the Jantar Mantar location. When he inquired about the reason, they mentioned the burger video as the cause.

Defending His Teammates

Dahiya emphasized that he had been actively countering negative narratives about the party. He felt particularly stung when he learned he was being blamed for the controversy.

When I was actively debunking propaganda, I got a call that my teammates had made me a scapegoat. So I felt bad.

He pointed out that Dipke had also been featured in a viral video eating Kachori, yet Dahiya had strongly defended him. He noted that many people continued to claim Dipke stood on a truck, and he had countered that assertion by stating Dipke was the one who received a slap.

I said, ‘I have also received death threats and heckling and the brutality was done by the police, but you are holding CJP responsible’.

The Burger Controversy Explained

The dispute began when social media users shared footage of Dahiya at a fast-food establishment close to Jantar Mantar. The timing coincided with police using force against demonstrators trying to reach Parliament. A voice in the clip questioned why he was dining instead of joining the march.

Dahiya responded by posting a video of himself eating, dismissing the criticism as overblown.

Why did I eat a burger? This is a big issue today. So why does anyone eat a burger? He is hungry. He wants to eat a burger. That’s it. So I was also very hungry. And when you eat something good, your mind feels good.

He also criticized the public for overlooking the dedication of protesters.

What people don’t see is that I haven’t slept for two nights, just like those who are at the protest site. You hold me accountable as if it is my job to be a protester. You haven’t elected me to this position.

This entire situation unfolded one day after police deployed batons and tear gas to clear the CJP’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on Monday.
