Death Investigation Underway

The Nanterre prosecutor’s office announced that an inquiry into the cause of death was opened following the discovery of Siad’s body. Officials confirmed that an autopsy would be conducted as part of the broader investigation. According to Reuters reports, Siad had not yet been formally questioned by investigators before his death.

French media outlets reported that at least five women had come forward with accusations of rape and trafficking against the modelling professional. However, Siad’s legal team clarified that he had never been officially placed under judicial investigation, which is a formal stage in French law that occurs when judges determine sufficient grounds exist to suspect criminal activity.

Victims Express Frustration

Several women who had accused Daniel Siad modelling scout linked to the Epstein network expressed disappointment that his death might prevent investigators from gathering additional evidence. Juliette G., a former French model who alleges Siad recruited her in 2004 before introducing her to Epstein, stated that his testimony could have helped clarify events.

Former Swedish model Ebba Karlsson, who filed the first complaint against Siad in February, accused him of raping her when she was 20 years old. She described the situation as deeply frustrating for those seeking accountability. Karlsson has also accused former Elite modelling executive Gerald Marie of rape, alleging that Siad introduced her to him.

Siad’s name appeared nearly 2,000 times in documents released by the US Department of Justice relating to Epstein. His death marks the second time a person publicly connected to Epstein has died in France. Former modelling agent Jean-Luc Brunel was arrested in 2020 and found hanged in his prison cell in 2022.
