Fire Incident in Delhi’s New Friends Colony: Seven People and a Dog Rescued

Theindiapostdaily.com – A blaze broke out at a residence in Delhi’s New Friends Colony on Sunday, June 7, prompting the swift rescue of seven individuals and a dog. The Delhi Fire Services responded to the emergency, which was reported at approximately 3:40 PM, by dispatching two fire tenders to the location.

Rescue Operation Unfolds

Officials stated that the fire, which began around 3:39 PM, was confined to the building’s first floor. Firefighters launched a rescue mission, evacuating five children and two women who were stranded on the upper floors. A statement from the Delhi Fire Services highlighted the urgency of the situation, noting that several people feared being trapped during the operation.

“Firefighters initiated efforts to evacuate the family. Multiple residents expressed concern about being trapped,” said a spokesperson for the Delhi Fire Services.

Later updates confirmed the successful rescue of seven people, including an 8-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, and two other children, along with two women and one man. A dog was also recovered from the premises and transported to a veterinary hospital for treatment. No human casualties were reported, according to police, who dismissed earlier claims of a child’s death.

Details from the Fire Station

“Approximately 3:40 PM, we received a distress call and arrived within five minutes. Upon arrival, we were informed that several children were trapped inside. Our team immediately deployed ladders, initiated rescue operations, and began suppressing the flames,” shared Station Officer Rajkumar from the Mathura Road Fire Station.

The fire, which originated on the upper ground floor due to an apparent short circuit, was brought under control by 4:05 PM. Officials noted that two puppies could not be saved initially because the presence of pets in the building was not disclosed. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.

With inputs from agencies, the incident underscores the prompt response of emergency services in securing all occupants and managing the crisis effectively.
