“The passport is issued after a lot of due diligence, and it is based on documents from several government agencies,” said an official, as reported by media outlets.

Passports are issued following rigorous verification procedures by multiple government departments to ensure authenticity. The ministry highlighted that the process involves cross-checking documents to prevent fraud, making the passport a reliable travel document. However, it clarified that the document’s primary function is to authenticate a person’s identity for international travel, not to confirm their citizenship status.

The ministry also noted that processing times have been reduced to six working days, excluding police verification, which now takes less than 45 minutes at service centers.
