Protest in Nagpur Amid Ongoing Demand for Resignation
Theindiapostdaily.com – The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is set to hold a protest in Nagpur today, June 16, calling for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The gathering, organized at Samvidhan Square, aims to spotlight the recent NEET (UG) paper leak scandal that has fueled public discontent over the past month. Dipke, the party’s founder, arrived in Nagpur ahead of the event, urging students and local youth to participate in the demonstration.
Security Measures in Place
Officials have heightened security across Nagpur ahead of the protest, citing the incident in Jaipur where Dipke was assaulted. During a similar rally in Jaipur on Monday, he was captured on camera receiving multiple slaps from two individuals, as reported by PTI. His supporters later carried him on their shoulders, according to police accounts. The expected turnout of over 2,000 participants has prompted authorities to deploy extensive security protocols.
Police Preparedness
“Everyone has the right to protest peacefully. However, any attempt to violate the law, create unrest, or disturb public peace will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against anyone found breaking the law,” said Police Commissioner Ravindrakumar Singal, emphasizing the force’s readiness to manage the situation.
The police force includes four Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), three Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), 18 inspectors, 45 Assistant Police Inspectors (APIs), and 470 male, 170 female personnel. Two Riot Control Platoon (RCP) units are on standby to address potential disturbances. The department has also coordinated with traffic police to manage road diversions.
Traffic Adjustments for Smooth Protest Flow
As part of the logistical setup, traffic police have announced lane changes on several major routes, including Samvidhan Chowk, Variety Chowk, Zero Mile, and Sitabuldi. Motorists are advised to take alternative paths to avoid congestion. Authorities have also appealed to citizens and protesters to uphold calm and collaborate with law enforcement to prevent any disruptions.
Detainments Linked to Jaipur Incident
Earlier in the day, two youths were detained in connection with the assault on Dipke during the Jaipur protest. The incident, which occurred on Monday, has intensified the CJP’s campaign against Pradhan, with the party’s leaders emphasizing the need for accountability. The security arrangements reflect the urgency of the situation, ensuring both safety and order for the Nagpur demonstration.
