The exchange followed a public overture from fellow Union minister and Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athawale, who on 17 August in Nagpur invited Dipke to join the Republican Party of India (Athawale), commonly styled RPI (A), a constituent of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance at the Centre. Athawale framed the invitation in ideological terms, calling Dipke an Ambedkarite whose energy and youth should be channelled toward realising Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s constitutional vision.

Following 2023, Dipke severed ties with the AAP and travelled to the United States to pursue higher studies. He returned to India in June of this year to spearhead an agitation over the NEET-UG paper leak, which drew young people from across the country to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding systemic reforms and the ouster of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
