BJP Overhauls National Leadership: Deepak Mhaskey Takes Over IT Cell from Amit Malviya

Theindiapostdaily.com – In a sweeping reorganisation of its top-level command structure, the Bharatiya Janata Party announced on Monday that Deepak Mhaskey, a veteran from Chhattisgarh, would assume the role of national IT cell chief, succeeding Amit Malviya. The move forms one element of a far broader reshuffle designed to sharpen the party’s digital outreach and social media capabilities.

Malviya had occupied the IT cell leadership for over ten years and simultaneously functioned as the BJP’s co-incharge for West Bengal — a state where the party secured a decisive mandate in the latest assembly polls. His departure marks the end of an era in the party’s online operations.

Four New Social Media Coordinators Named

Alongside the chief-level swap, the party installed four state-level coordinators to manage its social media apparatus. The appointments are: Priti Gandhi (Maharashtra), Shivanand Dwivedi (Delhi), Alok Bhatt (Uttarakhand), and Arun Yadav (Haryana). Anil Baluni retains his existing post as Media Convenor.

Profile of the Incoming Chief

Mhaskey arrives with an unusually varied résumé. His professional history spans academia as a chemistry professor, work in agriculture and horticulture, and hands-on experience in electoral data analytics. He has also sat on the board of a public-sector enterprise and occupied a senior administrative post within the Chhattisgarh state government.

Wider Organisational Restructuring

The digital and media changes sit within a much larger realignment of the BJP’s national machinery. Thirteen individuals were elevated to the rank of national vice president, among them former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Ram Madhav, Baijayant Jay Panda, D Purandeshwari, Rekha Verma, Bharti Pawar, and Manpreet Singh Badal.

Piyush Goyal was designated the party’s national treasurer, while Tarun Chugh was entrusted with oversight of the central office. A fresh slate of national general secretaries was also unveiled, featuring Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, Biplab Kumar Deb, Smriti Irani, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi, and Sanjay Bhatia. BL Santhosh remains in his continuing role as national general secretary (organisation), and Shivprakash along with Saudan Singh were installed as national joint general secretaries (organisation).

Malviya’s Farewell Message

Confirming the transition in a post on X, Malviya extended his congratulations to Mhaskey and the incoming team.

Malviya also directed words of gratitude toward the party’s social media supporters, characterising the network as a community that had stood together throughout the BJP’s political trajectory. He noted that his eleven years at the helm afforded him the chance to engage with a wide cross-section of the party’s digital support base.
