Antarra Banerjee’s Team Denies Link to Train Blade Incident

Theindiapostdaily.com – In a Sunday statement, the publicist team of television actor Antarra Banerjee made clear that she plays no part whatsoever in the Railway Protection Force assault matter reported from the Aravali Express. The clarification emphasized that the name appearing in the First Information Report belongs to a different person entirely.

“Antarra Banerjee has no involvement or connection with the FIR or the incident being reported.”

The team pointed out that cross-checking the original FIR reveals the accused is Antara Soham Banerjee, identified as a model based in Thane. They urged readers to note the distinction between the two women and suggested that anyone reviewing the FIR would immediately see they are separate individuals.

The Actual Incident on the Aravali Express

Antara Soham Banerjee was picked up by police following a reported confrontation with RPF staff aboard the Aravali Express on August 12. She had been travelling toward Surat for a film shoot and held a sleeper-class ticket, yet allegedly boarded a reserved air-conditioned coach.

Per the allegations, a dispute erupted over her ticket status. During the exchange, Antara Soham reportedly stripped off her clothing and wielded a razor blade against RPF personnel before being taken into custody.

Custody, Statements, and Release

The following morning, Borivali Government Railway Police took her into their charge. Inspector Kunda Gavade of the Borivali GRP noted that witnesses suggested the woman may have grown agitated after failing to obtain an AC-coach ticket. He added that she allegedly turned down offers to phone family members or retain a lawyer, instead demanding arrest.

Gavade observed that her demeanor settled once the FIR was formally registered. She was held briefly and subsequently let go after being served with a notice under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

What the RPF Officer Alleged

In his complaint, RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Yaminikant Mishra described a disagreement that began when Antara Soham was found occupying a berth not assigned to her. A GRP official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, elaborated on the sequence of events.

“Banerjee was occupying a reserved seat and refused to vacate it for the rightful ticket holder. When Mishra went to help her vacate the seat, instead of complying, she started abusing the RPF team.”

“She instantly took out a blade from her bag and deliberately injured her hand, causing panic among the commuters. When Mishra tried to intervene, she charged at him and attempted to strike his neck. As Mishra tried to protect himself, he suffered two sharp cuts from the blade. Banerjee even grabbed his uniform and threw his spectacles. She also damaged his phone in the struggle.”
