SpiceJet Flights Delayed at Delhi: What Passengers Need to Know

Theindiapostdaily.com – SpiceJet flights delayed at Delhi Airport disrupted travel for passengers on Saturday, with services to Leh, Jammu and Dubai departing behind schedule. The airline cited operational reasons and said the affected domestic flights later reached their destinations.

SpiceJet said flights SG121 from Delhi to Leh, SG127 from Delhi to Jammu, and SG2160 on the Delhi-Jammu sector were affected on September 19, 2026. The delays left travellers waiting at the airport, with some facing changes to onward plans.

“On September 19, 2026, SpiceJet flights SG121 and SG127 operating from Delhi to Leh and SG2160 operating from Delhi to Jammu were delayed due to operational reasons. The flights have departed and already landed at their destinations. SpiceJet deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to the passengers,” a SpiceJet spokesperson said.

Delhi-Dubai Flight Also Departed Late

The disruption also affected international travel. SpiceJet flight SG5111 from Delhi to Dubai, scheduled to leave Terminal 3 at 7.45 am, took off at 9.42 am, nearly two hours later than planned.

Delhi Airport said it was coordinating with SpiceJet and relevant stakeholders to assist affected travellers. While airport teams can help manage passengers on the ground, airlines remain responsible for flight operations, rebooking decisions and passenger communication.

“We regret the inconvenience faced by passengers due to the operational disruption of some SpiceJet flights. Delhi Airport teams are actively coordinating with the airline and relevant stakeholders to support affected passengers and provide necessary assistance,” Delhi Airport said on X.

Recent Disruptions Add to Passenger Concerns

The SpiceJet flights delayed at Delhi incident followed major disruption on the Delhi-Dubai route only days earlier. On September 15, SpiceJet services SG5111 and SG5105 were delayed for more than 24 hours after aircraft were grounded.

Passengers affected by those extended delays staged sit-ins at Delhi Airport and sought food, accommodation and clearer updates from the airline. Airport staff later stepped in to assist travellers, while some passengers also raised concerns about restrictions on filming inside the terminal.

Repeated flight delays can affect hotel reservations, business appointments, connecting flights and family travel. Regular updates from the airline are particularly important when passengers need to decide whether to wait at the airport or revise their travel arrangements.

Financial and Operational Challenges

SpiceJet has been dealing with financial and operational pressure, with a significant part of its fleet grounded. Fewer available aircraft can make it harder for an airline to manage schedules when operational problems arise.

On September 3, SpiceJet said it was pursuing funding through the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme, or ECLGS. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said the government had held regular discussions with airlines, including SpiceJet, about their challenges.

“Every month, we engage with all the airlines regarding whatever difficulties or issues or challenges they have. SpiceJet also, in the same regard, we have been meeting,” Naidu said.

The minister said the airline had been encouraged to strengthen operations, particularly by addressing its financial position.
