Delhi Police Celebrated with 17 Honours on Independence Day
Theindiapostdaily.com – I Day - Seventeen members of the Delhi Police force have been recognized with service medals on the occasion of Independence Day. The honours comprise two President's Medals for Distinguished Service alongside fifteen Medal for Meritorious Service awards, as confirmed by officials.
President's Medal Recipients
Additional Commissioner of Police Dinesh Kumar Gupta, a 2010-batch IPS officer, stands among the PSM awardees. Throughout his career, he has undertaken numerous operational and specialized roles within the Delhi Police. His postings include serving as ACP in Preet Vihar and Alipur, as well as ACP Operations across East, Northeast, and Southwest districts and the Special Branch.
His experience extends to positions as Additional DCP in East, Southwest, North, and New Delhi districts, plus DCP roles in Railway, IGI Airport, Traffic, Recruitment Cell, and Shahdara units. Currently functioning as Additional CP (Traffic), he manages traffic coordination and arrangements for significant public gatherings, religious events, parliamentary sessions, and national ceremonies. Prior to this recognition, he earned the MSM in 2018.
Sub-Inspector (Executive) Rajesh Kumar represents the second PSM recipient. Having entered Delhi Police as a constable in 1988, he contributed substantially to the Quarter Allotment Cell website from its launch in 2010. His responsibilities included maintaining records concerning government accommodation for police staff. Additionally, he functioned as nodal officer for the Directorate of Estates and managed administrative duties in Rohini district. He previously received the MSM in 2005.
Commandant (Home Guards) S K Shokeen under the DG Home Guards also received the President's Medal for Distinguished Service.
Medal for Meritorious Service Winners
Joint Commissioner of Police Surender Kumar, a 2007-batch IPS officer, and Joint Commissioner Nupur Prasad, also from the 2007 batch, feature among the MSM honourees.
Kumar introduced the e-Beat Book system in 2015 and subsequently engaged with extradition matters, cyber awareness programs, and policing systems connected to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. His contributions encompassed e-FIR integration with the 1930 cyber-fraud helpline, ZIPNET, criminal dossier systems, and e-Beat Book 2.0. He also held the position of FRRO Delhi and participated in immigration and foreigner-management frameworks. Presently serving as joint CP (Crime Branch), Kumar continues his distinguished service.
Prasad made history as the first DCP of Shahdara district, where she combated drug networks and gambling operations. She coordinated security for Delhi University elections and Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. During her CBI tenure, she oversaw multiple high-profile investigations and supported institutional policing efforts. She currently holds the position of Joint CP, Economic Offences Wing.
Inspectors Rakesh Kumar Bhatt (Executive) and Tara Dutt (Steno) also earned MSM awards. Bhatt's work spans narcotics investigations, immigration enforcement, deportation of illegal migrants, and law-and-order planning for major events. Dutt has served as personal assistant to senior formations across various Delhi Police units and aided administrative modernization and digitization efforts.
Personnel at the assistant sub-inspector and head constable levels recognized include Kailash Chand, Anjana Kumari, Satish Patil, Anand Ballabh, Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Bindu, Dinesh Kumari, Lalita, Sharmila, Pushpa Rani, and Vijay Singh.
Notably, Patil participated in apprehending a wanted terrorist linked to the banned KYKL organization and previously assisted in recovering 102 kg of cannabis.
