Mahesh Gupta is expected to be produced before a court after his police custody period ends. A contractor and a mason are also being brought before a court in connection with the case.
Investigators also apprehended Sanoj, a labour contractor from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh. He is suspected of supervising basement repair work shortly before the building collapsed.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Amit Goel said work had been underway in the basement for around eight to 10 days. The activity began after waste accumulated in the basement during the rainy season. Repair work and an extension were also reportedly being carried out on the ground floor for commercial use.

Delhi Fire Service personnel were removing students’ belongings from the neighbouring building before demolition. Authorities said this was necessary to protect residents, emergency workers and people in the surrounding area.
“On the instructions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, MCD has been directed to demolish the dilapidated building adjoining the accident site in the interest of public safety. The belongings of students inside the building are being safely removed by Delhi Fire Service personnel in a systematic manner. All students and local residents are requested to cooperate with the authorities.”
Authorities are expected to continue securing the area, assessing nearby structures and investigating the circumstances that led to the collapse.
Supreme Court to Consider Broader Safety Concerns
The Supreme Court has indicated that it will consider the Satya Niketan incident in a wider national context. A bench comprising Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R. Mahadevan scheduled the matter for Thursday after it was raised by senior advocate Ajit Sinha.
