Theindiapostdaily.com – Bihar news reports a tragic incident in which four individuals lost their lives after inhaling toxic gas while working inside a well in Gaya Ji district. The accident occurred on Friday at Garh Karmauni village, located within the Dobhi police station jurisdiction. According to SSP Sushil Kumar, all four victims were engaged in repairing a motor when they reportedly inhaled poisonous gas that had accumulated inside the well. The deceased have been identified as Chamari Manjhi, his son Dilchand Manjhi, Vikas Chaudhary, and Vijay Chaudhary. Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the gas accumulation and whether safety protocols were followed during the repair work.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene immediately after the incident was reported. Villagers and nearby residents assisted in pulling the victims out of the well. Medical teams were deployed to provide first aid, but unfortunately, all four individuals succumbed to asphyxiation before reaching the hospital. The accident took place in Tlangsam village, approximately 5 kilometers from Champhai town. Daily wagers Vanlalpeka and Vannunmawia had been hired to dismantle an old, six-foot-deep water tank that had remained sealed for several years.

Vanlalpeka was the first to enter the tank but collapsed shortly after going inside. Two friends, Baggio Lalhmingthanga and Ramengmawia, came to check on him and also lost consciousness when they entered the tank. Lalhmingthanga raised an alarm before attempting another rescue, prompting neighbors to intervene. All four men were eventually pulled out by local volunteers and rushed to a nearby hospital. Vanlalpeka, aged 39, and Ramengmawia, aged 33, died en route to the hospital.
