Smriti Irani Named BJP National General Secretary; Party Unveils Full Leadership Slate

Theindiapostdaily.com – The Bharatiya Janata Party has completed a sweeping reshuffle of its top organisational ranks, placing former Union minister and ex-Lok Sabha MP Smriti Irani among its newest national general secretaries. The announcement landed on Monday, roughly six months after Nitin Nabin assumed the role of BJP national president.

Irani's Reaction: Gratitude and a Worker's Perspective

Irani, who previously represented Amethi in the lower house, framed her elevation as a continuation of a long-standing commitment to party work. Speaking on X, she described the transition from grassroots volunteer to national leadership as a deeply humbling arc.

"From an ordinary BJP karyakarta to being entrusted with the responsibility of serving as the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, this journey has been deeply humbling."

She directed explicit thanks toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Nabin for what she called yet another chance to serve both the party apparatus and the country.

"I am deeply honoured and grateful to Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President Nitin Nabin for entrusting me with this responsibility and giving me yet another opportunity to serve the Sangathan and the Nation."

Irani stressed that her selection underscored the party's worker-centric ethos, arguing that an everyday cadre could be elevated to the highest organisational tier.

"BJP has created an ordinary worker like me and bestowed upon me the extraordinary responsibility of National General Secretary to contribute to the organization--this is a tribute to the worker-centric system."

She pledged to treat the role through the lens of the party's "Rashtra Pratham" doctrine, viewing organisational duty first and foremost as service.

"It is with this spirit, and with the continued guidance of our senior leadership, that I look forward to taking on this responsibility with renewed commitment, strengthening the Sangathan at the grassroots and contributing to the larger mission of nation-building and serving Maa Bharti."

The Broader Leadership Slate

Nabin's new national team blends seasoned veterans with younger faces. Alongside Irani, the following individuals were designated general secretaries: former Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb, Sunil Bansal, Vinod Tawde, Gajendra Patel, Satish Poonia, Harish Dwivedi, and Sanjay Bhatia.
